Today, President Biden announced $4.3 billion in new Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) programimplementation grants to support communities across the nation in the fight against climate change. In response, Margie Alt, Director of the Climate Action Campaign, issued the following statement:

“The Biden administration and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have taken another bold step to arm communities with the tools necessary to tackle the climate crisis. With the recent heat waves, tornados, hurricanes, wildfires, and floods all worsened by climate pollution, this funding could not come at a better time. Today, EPA announced awardees for $4.3 billion  for Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program implementation grants to help communities invest in new climate solutions, investments made possible by the landmark Inflation Reduction Act.”

“This significant funding will better enable states, local governments, tribes, and territories to tackle climate pollution head-on, improving air quality and making communities healthier and more resilient. By prioritizing local needs, these grants will enable the implementation of tailored strategies to reduce climate pollution, protect communities from the impacts of extreme weather, improve public health, and stimulate clean energy job growth. The EPA’s commitment to climate action through the CPRG program strengthens our fight against climate change, and ensures that the benefits of a cleaner environment are felt at the local level, enhancing the quality of life for all Americans.”
