CAC: Senate Must Reject Funding Bill’s Massive Cuts to Health, Climate

WASHINGTON–Today, House Republicans pushed through a funding bill that includes massive cuts to disaster relief, flood risk protections and more, while handing Donald Trump and Elon Musk a "blank check" to expand their unconstitutional power grab. Margie Alt, Director of the Climate Action Campaign (CAC), issued the following statement:

“Chaos, confusion and cruelty are the governing mantras of the Trump administration and the Republican-controlled Congress. Republicans are using their new majority to slash protections designed to keep our communities safe from climate change and extreme weather and hand essentially unlimited power to Donald Trump and Elon Musk to eviscerate the federal government.

“Climate protections keep our air clean and our families safe and healthy. Right now, House Republicans in Congress, with the support of Trump and Musk, are dismantling these safeguards. The American people didn’t vote for big giveaways to the oil and gas industry or for more pollution. The Senate must reject this bill, and Congress must get to work on a funding bill that upholds the law and puts the American people our health and our futures – not wealthy polluters – first.”
