CAC’s Alt: OMB Reversal of Illegal Freeze Thanks to People Seeing Real Impacts of Trump’s Agenda
WASHINGTON – In a stunning reversal after just 48 hours and only a day after a federal court slapped it down, the Trump administration has rescinded an illegal policy ordering the immediate, sweeping freeze of funding for nearly every federal program. The executive orders freezing funding to clean energy and climate programs remain in effect. Margie Alt, director of the Climate Action Campaign released the following statement in response to the shocking reversal by the White House:
“Over the last 48 hours, people got to see the real impacts of Donald Trump’s policies, and they were not pretty nor were they supported by the public. While the administration’s attempt to circumvent the law was poorly developed and implemented, it was also short-lived. However, at least when it comes to climate and clean energy programs, this fight isn’t over. The programs protecting people from climate and air pollution, helping people recover from extreme weather disasters, and investments in clean energy creating hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs are still on the chopping block. We will continue to stand up against these attacks on our climate, our clean energy economy, and our health.”
