Washington, DC Today, extremists in the House of Representatives passed a dangerous fiscal year 2025 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies funding bill that would undermine climate and clean energy investments and slash funding for critical agencies that protect our health and environment. In response, Margie Alt, Director of the Climate Action Campaign (CAC), issued the following statement:

“This summer is on track to be one of the hottest in history, with record breaking extreme weather events including hurricanes, heat waves, and floods. Yet House Republicans have ignored the science and all the available evidence of the devastating and deadly impacts of climate change and pushed through draconian cuts that hamstring our ability to tackle the climate crisis. This appropriations bill attacks EPA’s budget and mission, undermines climate and clean energy investments, and strips protections for our air, water, and lands. It guts programs that advance environmental justice while helping big polluters line their pockets. In passing this bill, the fossil fuel-funded extremists in Congress have shown that they are intent on rolling back our progress.

“We thank all the members who opposed this extreme bill and we are grateful for the continuous bipartisan support for funding the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a key investment that accelerates the transition to a more equitable, affordable, and prosperous clean energy future. We must safeguard communities from toxic pollution and fully invest in protecting our health, climate, and economy.”
