The below is a statement from Climate Action Campaign Director Margie Alt following the announcement of the appointment of John Podesta to the position of Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy.

"There is no bigger climate champion than John Podesta so today is a big win for the global climate community with his appointment to this key leadership position.  

"Since 2022, John has served as Senior Advisor to the President for Clean Energy Innovation and has helped the President build a legacy as the most climate-forward President the U.S. has ever had. In this time, he has helped pass ambitious, common-sense climate legislation at a time when the U.S. needs strong climate leadership that meets the urgency of the moment. John is also a climate champion in his own right, with a proven track record of advancing domestic and international climate policies that have driven climate action."
