CAC’S MARGIE ALT ON THE PASSING OF POPE FRANCIS
WASHINGTON – Today, with the world mourning the passing of Pope Francis, Margie Alt, Executive Director of the Climate Action Campaign (CAC), issued the following statement:
“Pope Francis was both a spiritual leader and an advocate for the protection of our most vulnerable communities through his commitment to safeguarding our shared home – Earth.
"His landmark encyclical, ‘Laudato Si’’, was a wake-up call, urging us to confront the climate crisis as a moral responsibility. Here in the U.S., his message reinforced the reality that addressing climate change is about protecting our health, our communities, and our future.
"Pope Francis called for bold action to reduce pollution, transition to clean energy, and protect those most at risk, underscoring the need for U.S. leadership to meet this challenge.
"As we reflect on his legacy, we recommit ourselves to the fight for a cleaner, more just, and healthier future. May he rest in peace..”

WASHINGTON – Hoy, mientras el mundo lamenta el fallecimiento del Papa Francisco, Margie Alt, directora ejecutiva de la organización Climate Action Campaign (CAC), emitió la siguiente declaración:
“El Papa Francisco fue tanto un líder espiritual como un defensor de la protección de nuestras comunidades más vulnerables a través de su compromiso con salvaguardar nuestro hogar común: el Planeta Tierra.
"Su encíclica histórica, ‘Laudato Si’’, fue un llamado de atención, instándonos a enfrentar la crisis climática como una responsabilidad moral. Aquí en los Estados Unidos, su mensaje reforzó la realidad de que abordar el cambio climático significa proteger nuestra salud, nuestras comunidades y nuestro futuro.
"El Papa Francisco pidió acciones audaces para reducir la contaminación, hacer la transición hacia energías limpias y proteger a los más vulnerables, subrayando la necesidad de liderazgo de los Estados Unidos para enfrentar este desafío.
