CAC’S MARGIE ALT: PUTTING GGRF DIRECTOR ON LEAVE A WIN FOR BILLIONAIRES AND A LOSS FOR VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES
WASHINGTON – According to media reports, EPA administrator Lee Zeldin has put the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) director on administrative leave. The GGRF is a $27 billion federal investment that addresses the climate crisis, especially in the rural, urban, and Indigenous communities most impacted by climate change and frequently left behind by mainstream finance. Climate Action Campaign Director Margie Alt released the following statement:
“Lee Zeldin is every day looking more and more like a Project 2025 rubber stamp. By putting the director of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund on leave, he’s taken the EPA one step closer to being a wholly-owned subsidiary of Big Oil and Gas. Once again in this administration, billionaires win and vulnerable communities lose as the EPA claws back investments that were designed to benefit people through lower energy bills and expand access to clean energy and other climate mitigation programs. This is another attempt to inflict chaos, confusion, and cruelty on the American people who overwhelmingly support action to tackle the climate crisis.”
